More from Southern India

(There are captions, if they aren't showing up click on the speach bubble at the bottom left of the slideshow)

The memorable stuff:

- Leeches, Phil and I got leeches while hiking in Northern Kerala. At least the boys didn't. Makes you feel like a better parent.

- Sunset over the Indian Ocean

- Floating the backwaters for a day in Kerala

- The slums of Mumbai, for right up in your space poverty.

- N's overflowing diaper contents all over my lap at dinner one night. Makes you wonder why you bother to ever leave home.

- Getting basically chased down the street by a beggar/vendor trying to sell us balloons, which she kept hitting us with.

- The replacement car and driver we lined up in a wink in Bangalore. The guy was a madman, we're all grateful to have survived.

- A teeny tiny branch/home group in Mumbai, the only one in the third largest city in the world.

- A week and a half away from our apartment; just what we needed to make it start to feel like home.

Great pictures! Makes me almost want to come visit. Southern India is really beautiful. Although you were on the west side, was any of the area you saw affected by the tsunami? Or is that old, forgotten news over there with all the current political stuff going on?

It's really crazy to see all your pictures. We were in Kerala about a year ago. Saw the nets, elephants, backwaters. It feels like a dream now.

Remember you'll only (likely) live in India once!

Doesn't it freak you out to drive there. I love that line markers are just completely ignored- why did they even bother?

Ohh I do wish I would have ventured to Southern India. It looks rather lovely.

I know some of it is loathsome, but cherish every moment, because it will all be gone far too soon and memories fade too quickly. The photos of N kissing the little native boy are so precious. Will you email them to me? ruthietoothie9@gmail.com

I want to cherish them forever and share them with friends.

Love,

Ruth
